Daniel Turnberg Travel Fellowship Scheme
The Daniel Turnberg UK/Middle East Travel Fellowship SchemeThis scheme provides opportunities for short-term exchange of medical researchers between the UK and countries in the Middle East. It aims to offer applicants the chance to gain further research experience, learn new techniques and to foster scientific collaboration.
The scheme was launched in 2008 and has been a resounding success, with twenty applicants awarded Travel Fellowships through the
first round of funding, announced in April 2009. The second round of awards came to a close in March 2010. The Academy is delighted to announce that twenty-one awards were made through the
second round of funding for this scheme.
The scheme is funded by the
Daniel Turnberg Memorial Fund with ongoing support from the
Royal College of Physicians of London and the
Wellcome Trust. As part of the 2010 round of funding,
The Division of Surgery, Imperial College London, provided support for an additional fellowship within the fields of Surgery or Quality and Safety.
The Daniel Turnberg Memorial Fund also has the generous support of The Wolfson Foundation, The Wohl Foundation, GlaxoSmithkleine, The Samuel Sebba Charitable Trust and the Isaac and Julia Haskel Trust.
The Academy would like to thank these organisations for their contributions and ongoing support of the scheme.
The third round of funding will open for applications in October 2010. Please follow the links below for further details of the scheme:
