About us

The Academy is governed by a Council of 24 Fellows including six Honorary Officers whose role is to provide strategic advice to the Academy. Council and Honorory Officers meetings are chaired by the President of the Academy.

Council may, from time to time, co-opt additional Fellows to provide balance or expert advice. One third of the Council membership is required to retire each year and new members are appointed at the AGM in November.

Council meetings are held five times a year: February, April, June, October and November. The November meeting is scheduled to coincide with the Academy’s Annual General Meeting which takes place the same month.

The Academy’s financial affairs are overseen by the Finance Committee, chaired by the Treasurer.
